H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/8 Filter Kit 67mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/8 Filter Kit 67mm | Take the edge off bright highlights
Bright highlights can look hard and clinical, especially in portraits or scenes with small points of light. The H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/8 Filter Kit gives you a way to soften that rendering while keeping the scene recognisable. Its 1/8 strength is a restrained starting point for a mist effect: useful when you want a gentler feel without making the filter effect the whole picture. Try it for portraits where you want softer-looking skin, or for evening streets where signs and lamps can take on a mild glow. The 67mm size is the key fit detail: it’s intended for a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread. This isn’t a neutral filter for keeping every highlight crisp; it’s a creative choice for photographers who want a little softness in the finished image.
Specialist Note
“Will the 1/8 strength be too obvious?” No; it’s the gentler Black Mist option, so it gives you room to add softness without making the effect dominate. I’d use it for a close portrait with a bright background, or an evening street scene with illuminated signs: keep those highlights in the frame and let the filter soften their edges. The 67mm size means you’ll want a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread. One thing to keep in mind: this changes the look of the image, so take it off when you want highlights to stay crisp and unfiltered. For a subtle, deliberate glow, this strength makes sense.
