H&Y HD EVO-Series Circular Polarizing (CPL) Filter 95mm | Cut reflections and bring out sky tones

Reflections on water and glass can be less distracting, while a blue sky can appear richer in the right light. The H&Y HD EVO-Series Circular Polarizing (CPL) Filter is designed to give you control over those effects as you make the picture. Rotate the filter while looking through your composition and watch how the reflections and sky change; the result depends on the light and your angle to it. It’s especially useful for landscape photography, travel scenes with reflective surfaces, and outdoor work where glare is getting in the way of detail. A polarizing filter won’t remove every reflection, and its effect isn’t the same in every direction, so take a moment to adjust it rather than setting it and forgetting it. This is a 95mm filter, for photographers whose lens takes that size.

Specialist Note

95mm is the filter diameter, so in practice this is for a lens with a matching 95mm filter thread. The circular polarizer part is what gives you adjustable control over reflections: for a lake or shop window, rotate the filter while watching the surface until the glare is reduced to the level you want. Outdoors, you can also adjust it to deepen the appearance of a blue sky. I’d consider it for landscape and travel photographers who work with changing light and reflective scenes. One limitation to keep in mind: it won’t eliminate reflections from every surface, and the sky effect varies with shooting direction.
