H&Y K-Series ND4000 HD MRC 95mm Drop-In Filter
H&Y K-Series ND4000 HD MRC 95mm Drop-In Filter | Make long daylight exposures
The defining choice is the ND4000 strength: it cuts the light reaching your sensor to roughly one four-thousandth, giving you about twelve stops of reduction. That level is for scenes where ordinary exposure settings still leave a shutter speed too quick for the movement you want to record. The H&Y K-Series ND4000 is a 95mm drop-in neutral-density filter for photographers building long exposures into their work, especially in daylight. It can turn a starting exposure of 1/250 second into roughly 16 seconds, making moving water or drifting clouds render with softened motion rather than frozen detail. Its black colour is the listed finish; the useful point in the name is the dedicated K-Series drop-in format. Choose it for deliberate, very long exposures, not as a mild everyday light reducer. The strong density calls for planning your framing and exposure before you begin.
Specialist Note
Once it’s seated in the K-Series drop-in setup, the filter is quick to put into use: you add the strong reduction without threading a filter onto the lens. I’d use the ND4000 for a daylight river scene or clouds over a fixed landscape. If your unfiltered meter reading is 1/250 second, allow about 16 seconds as a starting exposure, then adjust for the scene. The 95mm designation is the size to match to your filter arrangement, so it’s worth keeping that part of your kit consistent. One honest caveat: this is a very dense filter, better suited to planned long exposures than casual exposure tweaks. I’d compose and focus first, then insert it.
