H&Y K-Series ND65000 HD MRC 95mm Drop-In Filter
H&Y K-Series ND65000 HD MRC 95mm Drop-In Filter | Make long exposures in daylight
The defining choice is the K-Series drop-in format: it lets you add this ND65000 filter when you need very strong light reduction, then take it out again when you don’t. It’s made for photographers who want to extend exposure times in bright conditions, especially landscape photographers working with moving water or clouds. With the filter in place, a longer exposure can soften the movement of a stream or give clouds a more pronounced blur. The 95mm size and K-Series format make this a specific part of a filter setup, rather than a general-purpose filter to buy by diameter alone. HD MRC is part of the product’s designation; I’ve kept the description to what’s clear from the name. This is a specialist tool for deliberate long exposures, not a filter you’ll want in place for every scene.
Specialist Note
After you’ve framed the shot, the drop-in design lets you bring the filter into use without treating it like a permanent part of the lens setup. The ND65000 designation tells you this is for a substantial cut in light, so I’d reach for it when daylight would otherwise keep your exposure too short for the movement you want to show. For silky water, compose and focus first, then add the filter and extend the exposure until the flow softens. It can also blur moving clouds over a landscape. The 95mm size is a detail to match to your filter arrangement; this suits photographers already working with the K-Series drop-in format. It’s deliberately specialised, so it’s not the one to leave in for everyday shooting.
