Hama Filter PL Circulair 58mm 72558
Hama Filter PL Circulair 58mm 72558 | Control reflections in-camera
Reduce distracting reflections on water or glass and bring more definition to a blue sky with a polarising filter. The Hama Filter PL Circulair 58mm 72558 is a circular polarising filter, sized for lenses that take 58mm filters. Turn the filter to change the polarising effect as you look through the viewfinder or at the camera screen; the result depends on the angle of the light and your position. It’s particularly useful for landscapes with reflective water, and for photographing windows or glossy surfaces where you want to see more of what’s behind the reflection. A polariser can also affect exposure, so check the camera’s meter after adjusting it. This is a straightforward option for photographers who want to manage reflections while making the picture, rather than relying on later editing. The 58mm size is the key fit detail: it needs to match the filter size accepted by your lens.
Specialist Note
For glare reflected from water or a shop window, this filter gives you an in-camera control a lens hood can’t. The circular polarising design lets you rotate the filter and judge the effect as you frame the shot; I’d turn it slowly and stop when reflections are reduced without making the scene look unnatural. It suits landscape photographers and anyone who photographs through glass. The 58mm size means it’s for a lens with a matching filter fitting, so check the size marked on the lens. One practical point: the polarising effect can reduce the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on exposure, especially in dim conditions.
