Hama Filter Premium UV 390 Nano 49 mm | A straightforward UV filter for a 49 mm lens

On an outdoor walk, there are moments when you want to keep shooting without repeatedly reaching for the lens cap. The Hama Filter Premium UV 390 Nano is a UV filter for photographers who want a filter in place while working, rather than leaving the front of the lens uncovered during use. Its role is straightforward: UV filtration, with a name that identifies the filter type. It suits someone who wants a simple layer on the lens during everyday photography, especially when handling the camera outdoors. This isn’t a polarising filter, so it isn’t the tool for reducing reflections from water or glass. Think of it as a practical UV-filter option for a lens you use often, not as an effect filter that changes the look of a scene. If UV filtration is what you want, it keeps the choice uncomplicated.

Specialist Note

This Hama gives you a UV filter to leave in place while shooting, instead of relying on the lens cap as your only cover. The 49 mm diameter means you’ll want a lens that takes 49 mm filters; matching that number makes it a straightforward fit. The UV 390 designation is useful if UV filtration is specifically what you want. It won’t reduce reflections like a polariser, so it’s not the answer to glare from glass or water. I’d consider it for outdoor walks or a frequently handled everyday lens, leaving it fitted while you shoot and replacing the cap for storage. Its job is specific and simple.
