Hama Filter Profi Line Pol Circular Nano 72 mm
Hama Filter Profi Line Pol Circular Nano 72 mm | Control reflections and sky contrast
The 72 mm size and circular polarising design make the Hama Filter Profi Line Pol Circular Nano a practical option for photographers whose lenses take this filter diameter. It’s most useful when reflections are getting in the way: a polarising filter can reduce glare from surfaces such as water and glass, and deepen the appearance of a blue sky. That gives you more control over the look of a scene while you’re taking the picture, rather than relying on edits later. It suits landscape photographers, travel shooters and anyone who often photographs through windows or near reflective surfaces. The effect depends on the light and your shooting angle, so it’s a filter to adjust for each scene rather than leave in place for every shot.
For a lake or shop window, turn the filter while looking through the camera and watch the reflections change; stop when you’ve kept the detail you want. In a scene with clouds, the sky effect is usually strongest when you’re shooting roughly at right angles to the sun. The result is a choice, not an automatic improvement: a little reflection can help show texture, and a very dark sky may look unnatural. Take a moment to judge the effect before you press the shutter.
Specialist Note
The Hama Filter Profi Line Pol Circular Nano 72 mm is at its best when you need to tame reflections without losing control of the scene. The 72 mm diameter means it’s for a lens with a matching filter thread, so check the marking on the front of your lens. Its circular polarising format lets you rotate the filter and fine-tune the amount of glare reduction as you frame a view. I’d suggest it for photographing water, glass or a cloud-filled sky; turn it while watching the image, and choose the point where reflections fall back but the scene still looks natural. A polariser reduces the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on shutter speed in dim conditions.
