Hama Network Cable CAT-8 40 GBIT/s S/FTP Afgeschermd 3 M

Hama CAT-8 40 Gbit/s S/FTP Shielded Network Cable, 3 m | A direct wired network link

For a wired connection between network devices, this cable gives you a three-metre run to work with. The Hama CAT-8 40 Gbit/s S/FTP shielded network cable is suited to a setup where you want a cable connection rather than relying on a wireless link. Its stated speed rating is 40 Gbit/s, and its S/FTP shielding is part of the cable’s specification. The length is practical when the two connection points are a short distance apart, such as across a desk or between nearby pieces of network equipment. It’s a straightforward option for someone arranging a wired network connection and who has already worked out the route the cable needs to take. The cable is black, so it’s easy to identify as a dark lead in a group of cables. One honest point: the speed rating describes the cable, not the speed your entire network will deliver.

Choosing a cable for your setup

Start with the distance between the devices and the path the cable will follow. Three metres gives you some room to route it neatly, but the right length depends on where your equipment sits. A measured route helps avoid ending up with a cable that falls short or leaves more slack than you want.

This is a network cable, so its job is to link network equipment by wire. The CAT-8 designation and 40 Gbit/s rating make those details easy to compare when you’re choosing between cables. If your priority is a known length and a clearly stated cable category, those are the practical points to focus on here. Keep in mind that the connection you get also depends on the devices and network it’s used with; the cable rating alone can’t set that result.
