Hama ODT-Adapter TosLink-Coupling - Optical 3.5-mm-Plug Gold Plated

Hama ODT-Adapter TosLink-Coupling - Optical 3.5-mm-Plug Gold Plated | Connects two optical connector formats

Instead of replacing a cable just because its ends use different connector formats, you can use this Hama adapter to bridge an optical 3.5-mm plug and a TosLink connection. It’s a small, specific part for an audio setup where those are the two optical connector types you need to join. The adapter has a gold-plated finish and a black colour. Its job is practical rather than complicated: it gives the optical 3.5-mm plug a TosLink coupling to connect with. That makes it relevant when the cable you have and the socket you need to reach don’t share the same format. It’s not a general-purpose audio converter, so the useful question is simply whether those connector shapes match your setup. If they do, this is a straightforward way to make that particular connection without changing the cable itself.

For a format mismatch

With a small adapter like this, it helps to think in terms of the two ends of the connection, not just the word “optical.” This model is named for an optical 3.5-mm plug and a TosLink coupling; those details describe the connection it’s intended to bridge. The gold-plated finish is part of the product description, while the body colour is black. Keep the connector names in view when choosing an adapter: optical connections can use different physical formats, and a matching optical signal alone doesn’t tell you that the plugs will fit. This Hama part is specific to the formats in its name. It’s a simple piece of kit, but the connector distinction is exactly what makes it useful.
