Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 32mm
Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 32mm | Helps control stray light
In bright conditions, light coming in from the side can make it harder to see a clear view through an optical instrument. The Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 32mm is a lens hood for the objective, named for its 32mm size and honeycomb design. The cells are intended to screen off-angle light before it reaches the objective, which can be helpful when observing outdoors in strong or uneven light. It suits Hawke customers looking for a sunshade for an instrument with a 32mm objective. For the best chance of reducing side light, aim the objective at your subject and keep the sun or another bright source outside the direct line of sight. This is a focused accessory: it addresses stray light, rather than changing magnification or making a dim scene brighter.
Specialist Note
The honeycomb face gives this sunshade its distinctive open-cell look, and those cells are intended to screen light arriving from the sides. That can be useful when you're observing a subject in open, bright surroundings: keep the objective pointed at the subject and let the shade help limit stray light around the view. The 32mm designation is the key sizing detail, so this is for an instrument with a 32mm objective, not a general-purpose hood. I’d consider it when strong side light is getting in the way of comfortable viewing. Its role is specific; it won’t brighten the image in low light.
