Iiyama 86IW LCD 4K UHD IPS 800 CD/M | Detailed images in bright spaces

The Iiyama 86IW brings together a 4K UHD resolution, an IPS panel and 800 cd/m² brightness, making it a practical fit for people who need detailed images to remain easy to see in a well-lit room. It suits workplaces, education settings and other shared spaces where a monitor may be viewed from different seats. 4K UHD gives fine detail room to show, which is useful for text-heavy presentations, diagrams and high-resolution video. The IPS panel helps keep the picture consistent when viewers aren’t directly in front of the screen, while the stated brightness is useful when you can’t fully control the room lighting. This is a display to consider for clear, detailed viewing rather than a screen with a long list of specialised features. Its strengths are the specific combination of resolution, panel type and brightness.

Specialist Note

The Iiyama 86IW is best at showing detailed 4K content clearly in a bright shared room. I’d consider it for presentations with small labels or for video playback where people may be seated off-centre. Use a 4K source to make the most of its 4K UHD resolution; a lower-resolution video can’t gain extra detail simply by being shown on this display. The IPS panel is helpful when viewers are spread across the room, and 800 cd/m² brightness gives you useful headroom when daylight or overhead lighting is present. I’d still plan around the room: high brightness helps, but it doesn’t make every screen easy to read in direct sunlight.
