Ilford Direct Positive Paper FB 1K 10.2x12.7cm 25 Vel

Ilford Direct Positive Paper FB 1K 10.2x12.7cm 25 Vel | Make a positive image directly

Ilford Direct Positive Paper FB 1K comes as 10.2 x 12.7 cm sheets, for photographers looking to make a positive image directly on paper. It’s a specialist choice for hands-on photographic work where the finished image is meant to be positive, rather than a negative intended for printing later. The 25-sheet pack gives you a defined quantity to work through, with a compact sheet size that’s easy to plan around. If you’re choosing paper for a particular process, the important point is the “Direct Positive” designation: this isn’t simply a general-purpose photo paper. I’d pick it when that direct-positive result is the reason for the project, not as a substitute for paper intended for a different workflow. The title also identifies it as FB 1K; those designations are retained in the specifications below.

A paper with a specific purpose

Direct positive paper is for making a positive photographic image on the paper itself. That gives this Ilford paper a clear role: it’s aimed at photographers who want to explore a direct-positive result, rather than start with a conventional negative and make a separate print from it. The distinction matters when you’re selecting materials; the name describes the kind of result you’re working toward, not just the sheet size. Its 10.2 x 12.7 cm format is a small, defined working area, so it suits projects where that particular print size makes sense. There are 25 sheets in the pack. My honest take: the appeal here is the specific process, not broad versatility. If direct positive is what you’re after, this product name gives you a straightforward starting point; if you need a different kind of photo paper, this isn’t the one to choose.
