Ilford Fine Art Smooth Pearl 17" - 43.2cm X 15m

Ilford Fine Art Smooth Pearl 17" - 43.2cm X 15m | A wide roll for considered print layouts

Trying to choose paper for a print run can get awkward when the width and roll length aren’t clear at a glance. This Ilford photo paper is named as a 17-inch roll, also given as 43.2cm, with 15m of paper length. That makes the key dimensions easy to compare with the space you’ve planned for your prints. It’s aimed at photographers and printmakers who are selecting paper by its stated format and the Fine Art Smooth Pearl name. The title gives you a specific paper type to look for, rather than leaving you to choose from a broad, unnamed roll. One honest point: the title alone can’t tell you how a particular image will look on the paper, so your own image and print workflow still matter. For planning, though, the width and length are concrete and useful.

The 17-inch measurement is the roll’s stated width; 43.2cm is the corresponding metric figure. If you plan in centimetres, that conversion saves a little mental arithmetic. The 15m figure describes the paper length, which helps when you’re estimating how much roll you’ll need for a sequence of prints. Think about the layout before you start: the roll width is the boundary to work within, while each print uses some of its length. Keeping those two measurements separate makes it easier to plan a run without treating the product as a single-sheet pack.

“Fine Art Smooth Pearl” is the paper name to use when identifying this particular Ilford roll. If you’re comparing options, keep that wording alongside the dimensions in your notes, so you can distinguish it from other paper choices in your print planning. This is a straightforward format-led purchase: identify the paper by name, consider the 43.2cm width against your intended layout, then use the 15m length when thinking through the quantity of paper required. That’s the useful information the product title gives you, without dressing it up as a promise about the appearance of your finished print.
