Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sonora 320GSM 61cmx15m

Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sonora 320GSM 61cmx15m | A wide roll for planned prints

When a print needs a generous sheet size, having the paper in a wide roll gives you room to plan the layout around the image. Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sonora is photo paper supplied as a 61cm by 15m roll, with a stated weight of 320gsm. Its name identifies the surface as smooth cotton, so you can distinguish it from other paper names in the Galerie range when choosing stock for a project. It suits printmakers and photographers who already know the dimensions and paper weight they want, and need those details in one product. The honest point: the name alone doesn’t tell you how a particular image will look on it. If surface character matters to your print, judge that from a sample or a print you’ve seen, rather than relying on the name alone.

Plan around the print size

For a roll, it helps to think through the finished print before you start: the image dimensions, the space needed for trimming, and how many prints you want to produce. That makes the roll length easier to relate to your job, while its width gives you a clear starting point for laying out a print. Paper weight is another practical part of the decision, especially when you’re comparing products by their stated gsm. Those figures are useful for narrowing down a paper choice, but they don’t replace seeing how a specific image and surface work together. Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sonora gives you a clearly named paper and stated dimensions to begin that decision with. If you’re preparing a print for a particular output, consider the image size and the paper details together, rather than choosing by the product name alone.
