Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk 111.8cm X 15m

Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk 111.8cm X 15m | A textured silk surface for fine art prints

When a print calls for something other than a plain, smooth-looking surface, choosing paper can be a sticking point. Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk is a photo paper for printmakers who want a textured silk finish for their fine art work. The roll measures 111.8 cm across and 15 m long, giving you a wide format to work with when a standard sheet size won’t suit the job. Its name is refreshingly clear about the two details many people want to settle first: the surface and the format. That makes it a considered option for photographers and artists planning prints where the paper’s character is part of the presentation. The honest limit is that the title alone can’t tell you how the surface will render a particular image; paper choice is visual, so the look you want matters.

Choosing by surface and format

Start with the image and the finished print you have in mind. A textured silk paper suggests a different presentation from a smooth one, so it’s worth thinking about how that surface will sit with the subject and the way you plan to display the work. The roll format may also suit projects where you want a continuous length rather than individual sheets. These are the choices this product name helps you make; the right fit still depends on your image, your intended print size and your own preference for the finished surface. If you’re selecting paper for a particular print, treat texture and roll dimensions as the starting points, then decide whether they match that project.
