Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk 127.0cm X 15m

Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk 127.0cm X 15m | A wide roll for fine art printing

Ilford GP Fine Art Textured Silk 127.0cm X 15m is a 127.0cm-wide roll, 15m long, for printmakers working with fine art paper. It’s aimed at people producing larger prints or working through a series, rather than shoppers looking for a small pack of sheets. The name identifies a textured silk finish, giving you a clear starting point when choosing paper for an image where the surface is part of the final presentation. This is a specialist paper choice, so the useful question is whether that finish and roll format suit the work you have in mind. The generous width gives room for large-format projects, while the roll length provides paper for more than one print. One practical point: a roll this wide needs space in your workflow, from storage to handling during a print run. If you’re planning a particular image or edition, consider the intended print size and how you’ll manage the roll before you begin.

Choosing paper for a print project

Fine art paper is often selected as part of the image-making process, not as an afterthought. Think about the look you want the finished work to have, and whether a textured silk surface feels right for that image. A close-up photograph, a graphic composition and a softly toned image can each call for a different presentation; the best choice depends on the work, not a blanket rule. If you’re comparing papers, look at the surface names and formats carefully, then plan around the size of the prints you intend to make. With this roll, the width and length are especially relevant to that planning. They give you a substantial working format, but don’t by themselves tell you how a particular printer will handle the paper. For a print run, it’s sensible to make your paper decision alongside your production setup and the dimensions of the finished work. That keeps the choice focused on what matters: the image, the surface and the print you want to produce.
