Ilford MGFB5K Classic 106.7cmx30m Ei 1R | Wide paper for long prints

The defining choice here is the size: this Ilford photo paper is named in a 106.7 cm by 30 m format. That makes it worth considering when you’re planning prints that need a broad sheet or a substantial length of paper, rather than shopping by a small, familiar sheet size. It suits photographers and printmakers who already know the dimensions their work calls for and want the product name and measurements clear at the point of selection. The colour supplied for this item is black. The name also identifies it as MGFB5K Classic, so you can match the listing to the exact product designation you’re looking for. One practical point: the width is over a metre, so think about how your print workflow will handle a roll of this size before you choose it. That’s the detail most likely to shape the decision.

Choosing this format

Start with the print you intend to make, then compare its required paper width and length with the dimensions in the product name. The 106.7 cm width is the key figure for deciding whether this is the scale you need; the 30 m length helps you judge the quantity of paper represented by the format. Those measurements make this a more considered purchase than a paper listing where you’re choosing only by a standard sheet size. If you have a particular print in mind, it’s sensible to work out the required dimensions first. That keeps the choice grounded in your project instead of relying on a broad assumption about what size will suit. For repeat work, the named length gives you a clear number to use when planning paper needs. The product designation is also worth keeping to hand when comparing listings or placing a repeat order.
