Ilford MGFB5K Classic 24x30.5cm 10V. | A generous format for photo prints

Use it to turn a photograph into a print you can hold, frame or give a place on the wall. The Ilford MGFB5K Classic 24x30.5cm 10V. is photo paper in a generous rectangular size, suited to photographers who want a larger print rather than a small desk-size result. That extra area gives the image more room to read when viewed from across a room, while still keeping it to a manageable paper format. Its size is the clearest reason to choose it: you can give a favourite photograph a more substantial presence without moving to a very large print. The supplier lists its colour as black. If you’re choosing paper for a particular image, consider how the composition will sit on the page and where you plan to display the finished print. It’s a straightforward, size-led option for making a photograph tangible.

Think about the final placement before you print. A photograph intended for a frame may need a different crop from one you’ll keep loose in a portfolio, and the surrounding space can change how the image feels. At this size, it’s worth checking that the subject still has the emphasis you want when the picture is viewed at print scale, not just on a screen. A simple test is to view the image at roughly its intended physical size and decide whether the framing feels balanced. That’s practical advice for any print; the paper’s stated dimensions give you a clear starting point. The honest trade-off is that a larger print asks more of the composition: small details and empty areas become more noticeable. Choose an image that benefits from the space, and the print can feel considered rather than merely enlarged.
