Ilford MGRCDL44M 16.5x21.6cm 100

Ilford MGRCDL44M 16.5x21.6cm 100 | A clearly specified paper format

Your print begins with a practical decision: choosing paper in a size that suits the image you want to make. Ilford MGRCDL44M is photo paper in a 16.5x21.6cm format, with 100 indicated in the product title. That makes the key buying details easy to identify before you add it to your printing supplies. It’s suited to photographers who already know the paper size they’re looking for and want the same product reference when replenishing their stock. The honest point is that a product name can tell you the format and quantity, but it can’t tell you how a particular image will look on the finished print. If those details match your plan, this gives you a specific Ilford paper reference to work from rather than a vague size description.

Choosing by format

Paper size affects how you plan a print, so it’s worth settling that before you choose a particular image or prepare a batch. Think about the space you want the print to occupy and how you intend to present or store it. Those are decisions that depend on your own work; the product name doesn’t make them for you. The named format gives you a concrete starting point, while the product code helps distinguish this paper from other items in a supply list. If you’re buying more than one type of paper, keeping the full reference with your notes can also make it easier to identify the same item again later.

The number in the title is useful when estimating how much paper you want on hand. For a planned run, compare that quantity with the number of prints you expect to make, allowing for your own workflow and any test prints you choose to produce. There’s no need to treat the number as a promise about how many finished photographs you’ll get; that depends on how you use the paper. Keep the product name and format together when saving it to a shopping list, so you can return to this exact listing when you need to restock.
