Ilford Smooth Cotton Rag 310GSM 36" 91.4cmx15m 1ROLL

Ilford Smooth Cotton Rag 310GSM 36" 91.4cmx15m 1ROLL | A smooth cotton-rag surface for considered prints

If you’re choosing paper for prints where a smooth cotton-rag surface matters, this Ilford roll gives you that specific starting point in a wide roll format. It’s a photo paper for photographers and printmakers who have settled on this type of paper and need a roll rather than sheets. The title identifies a 310 gsm paper, with a width of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and a length of 15 metres, supplied as one roll. That makes the dimensions easy to compare with the print jobs you have planned. I’d treat it as a deliberate media choice, not a catch-all paper recommendation: the appeal here is the stated smooth cotton rag, and the size is suited to a workflow planned around roll paper. If those are the qualities and format you’re looking for, the product name gives you a clear basis for choosing it.

Choosing the roll for your workflow

Paper choice affects the character of a finished print, so it’s worth deciding what you want from the surface before committing to a roll. This one is explicitly described as smooth cotton rag; that’s the detail to focus on if you’re comparing paper types for a particular body of work. The weight and roll dimensions are practical selection points too, especially when you’re planning prints in advance. Match the roll format and paper stock to the media your printer supports, and consider whether the available length suits the amount of printing you expect to do. Those checks are more useful than assuming every photo paper will behave the same way. If your print workflow calls for this material and roll format, this Ilford paper keeps the choice straightforward.
