Kenko Celeste C-PL 52mm
Kenko Celeste C-PL 52mm | Control reflections and colour
Looking through a shop window or across water, you may find that reflections obscure the detail you wanted to photograph. The Kenko Celeste C-PL 52mm is a polarizing filter for reducing those reflections and controlling how strongly the sky and colours appear in your image. It’s especially useful for landscapes, architecture and scenes with reflective surfaces, where a change in reflected light can make a visible difference. The C-PL designation identifies it as a circular polarizer; turning the filter lets you adjust the effect while composing. Its 52mm size is the key fit detail: choose it for a lens marked with a 52mm filter size. The effect depends on the direction of the light, so it won’t remove every reflection in every situation. For the best control, rotate the filter while looking at the scene and stop when the reflections or sky look right to you.
Specialist Note
The circular rim is the part you turn to fine-tune the polarizing effect, rather than a setting on your camera. I’d start with the filter fitted to a lens marked 52mm, then rotate it slowly while watching a reflective surface or the sky in your frame. The C-PL designation means this is a circular polarizer, and the 52mm size gives you a clear number to match when choosing a filter. It suits photographers who want hands-on control over reflections in water or glass, or the look of a blue sky. Keep in mind that the result changes with the light’s direction; turning the filter can adjust the effect, but won’t make every reflection disappear.
