The Proteus 2X Anamorphic range by Laowa is constructed of anamorphic and spherical elements, providing both modern sharpness and vintage anamorphic features like elliptical bokeh and overstraling. Both anamorphic and spherical groups remain permanently fixed and achieving focus requires placement of variable spherical front glass. Optics quite similar to those found in Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic and Atlas Orion.

• Compressed at a ratio of 2X, after decompression the view is 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor.
• Resulting in a cinematic wide-screen appeal of 2.39:1 proportion which is highly coveted in the movie industry.
• Even at different focus distances, the compression ratio stays consistent to avoid anamorphic distortion.

Produces elliptical bokeh in blurred areas, a characteristic feature of anamorphic lenses, ensuring a strong cinematic appeal.

Offering three different flare colours to suit varying film genres, classic sci-fi blue, warm and elegant amber and neutral silver. The flare of the silver edition changes colour depending on the light source. This flare colour indication can be found on every lens body located underneath the focal distance.
