Lastolite Honeycomb Grid For 18.5cm Dish

Lastolite Honeycomb Grid For 18.5cm Dish | Keep light more controlled

For a more directed pool of light, a honeycomb grid can help keep illumination from spreading as broadly across a scene. The Lastolite Honeycomb Grid For 18.5cm Dish is made for use with an 18.5cm dish, giving you a straightforward way to shape the light from that setup. It suits portrait and still-life photographers who want to make a subject or part of a set the clear point of attention. The grid is black, so it stays visually unobtrusive around the lighting gear. Its size is the key detail here: this is a grid for an 18.5cm dish, not a general-purpose modifier. If that’s the dish in your kit, it offers a simple route to more controlled lighting. If it isn’t, this isn’t the right size match.

Using the size as your guide

Think of this as a specific light-shaping accessory rather than a complete lighting solution. A honeycomb grid helps limit the spread of light, which can be useful when you want to keep a background or nearby parts of a scene less lit. The exact look will depend on your subject, the placement of the light and the rest of your setup, so there’s room to experiment rather than one fixed result. Start with the grid on the matching dish, then adjust the light’s position to see how the subject and surrounding area change. That simple process gives you a practical way to judge whether the more contained look suits the image you have in mind. The honest point to keep in view is the stated dish size: the 18.5cm measurement is what makes this accessory a fit for a particular setup.
