Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 82 mm
Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 82 mm | Five stops less light for longer exposures
In bright conditions, you may want a slower shutter speed to show movement in a stream or soften passing clouds. The Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you room to use a longer exposure without relying only on a narrower aperture. ND32 denotes a 32-fold reduction in light, or five stops, so it makes a substantial difference to your exposure. This 82 mm filter suits photographers whose lens takes an 82 mm filter and who want to explore motion blur or keep a wider aperture in brighter light. It’s especially useful when the scene is too bright for the shutter speed or aperture effect you’re after. For example, a shutter speed of 1/30 second becomes roughly one second with five stops of reduction, before any other exposure adjustments. The ND32 strength is fixed, so it’s best when you know you want that level of light reduction.
Specialist Note
The Marumi DHG ND32 lets you use a longer shutter speed in bright light without stopping down as far. That’s the job I’d reach for it to do. Its five-stop reduction can turn 1/30 second into about one second, a practical starting point for giving flowing water a softer look; use a tripod to keep the rest of the scene steady. The 82 mm size is the detail to match to your lens’s filter thread, so check that number before choosing it. It suits photographers who want deliberate long exposures or a wider aperture in bright conditions. One thing to bear in mind: ND32 is a fixed strength, not an adjustable range.
