Marumi Protect Filter Super DHG 52 mm
Marumi Protect Filter Super DHG 52 mm | A simple barrier for your lens
The defining choice is the 52 mm diameter: this protection filter is made for a lens with a matching filter thread, giving its front element a layer between it and everyday dust, fingerprints and light contact. Marumi’s Super DHG model is for photographers who want to keep a filter on the lens as part of their regular setup, rather than reaching for one only for a particular effect. It’s especially useful for day-to-day photography, when a camera gets carried, handled and set down in changing surroundings. The filter is there to take the first contact, so you can clean its surface instead of immediately touching the lens itself. It won’t make a lens immune to knocks, and it’s no substitute for sensible handling, but it offers a straightforward way to add a protective layer without changing how you use the camera.
Specialist Note
Once fitted to a matching 52 mm thread, it’s easy to leave this filter in place and get on with taking pictures; you don’t need to set it up differently for each outing. I’d consider it for everyday street photography or family pictures, especially when the camera is being passed around or carried in and out of a bag. The practical approach is simple: keep the filter on, and clean its surface when it picks up a mark. Its black colour keeps the look discreet on the front of the lens. Just remember that a filter is a buffer for routine contact, not protection against a hard impact.
