Mentter HD CPL 52mm

Mentter HD CPL 52mm | Tame reflections and deepen skies

Mentter HD CPL 52mm is a 52mm circular polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over reflections and the look of bright skies. It suits anyone whose lens accepts a 52mm filter and who often photographs water, shop windows or landscapes in strong daylight. Turn the filter to adjust the polarizing effect: reflections from non-metallic surfaces can become less prominent, while a blue sky may appear richer when the sun is at the right angle. That makes it useful when reflections are obscuring what you want to show, or when a clear sky looks pale in the frame. The effect depends on the light and your shooting angle, so it’s something to judge through the viewfinder rather than expect to look the same in every scene. The HD CPL name identifies this filter; the practical reason to choose it is its polarizing effect.

Where it helps

For a landscape, the sky effect is strongest when you point roughly 90 degrees from the sun. With water or glass, rotate the filter while watching the reflection change, then stop where the balance looks right. A polarizer can also reduce glare from other non-metallic surfaces, but it won’t remove every reflection, and the result varies with the angle of the light.
