Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Pentax K-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Pentax K-Mount | Bring more of the scene into frame
Street corners, market fronts and travel scenes are easier to frame when you want more of the setting around your subject. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II is a wide-angle prime for Pentax K, with a 30mm focal length and manual focus. It suits photographers who prefer to set focus themselves and work deliberately rather than rely on autofocus. On the street, the 30mm view can bring a person and some of the surrounding place into one composition; on a trip, it gives you room to include architecture or a landscape without stepping as far back as a longer focal length may require. It’s a straightforward lens for considered framing, especially when you want context to remain part of the photograph. As a prime, it has a fixed focal length, so you compose by moving or reframing rather than zooming.
Specialist Note
A crowded street frame can leave you choosing between cutting off the setting and backing away; this lens gives you a wider starting point for keeping more context in. I’d suggest it to someone who enjoys setting focus by hand: take a moment to focus on your subject, then give thought to where you place it in the frame. The f/3.5 maximum aperture can help when the light falls, but it isn’t especially bright, so I’d plan on steadier light or support for dim interiors. On a Pentax APS-C body, 30mm gives an angle of view comparable to roughly 45mm on full frame—a practical framing for travel details and street portraits.
