Nedis CAT6-CABLE RJ45 Male RJ45 Male S/FTP 20.0m Round LSZH Black Label

Nedis CAT6-CABLE RJ45 Male RJ45 Male S/FTP 20.0m Round LSZH Black Label | A 20-metre cable for a longer connection

Its 20-metre length is the key detail: this Nedis CAT6 cable is made for a connection that needs to run further than a short desk lead. It suits a home or work setup where devices with matching RJ45 sockets need to be joined across a room or along a longer route. The cable has an RJ45 male connector at each end, a round profile and a black LSZH jacket. Its CAT6 and S/FTP designations identify the cable type; the title doesn’t give a data rate, so I wouldn’t choose it on an assumed speed. The practical advantage is having one long, finished cable rather than joining shorter lengths. If your route is shorter, 20 metres may leave cable to manage, so it’s worth considering the path before you buy.

Planning the cable run

Measure the route the cable will follow, rather than the straight-line distance between the two devices. Include the distance around furniture, along a wall or behind a desk, and leave enough room at each end to reach the sockets without pulling the cable tight. A round cable can be routed along a path where its shape suits the space, while the black finish may blend in with other dark cables and equipment. LSZH means low smoke zero halogen, a jacket designation often useful to recognise when selecting cable. The main thing is to make sure both connection points accept RJ45 plugs and that the route works for a 20-metre lead. That’s the detail to get right before you settle on this length.
