OM SYSTEM LH-48 Lens Hood (Metal) EW-M1220 Black - OM
OM SYSTEM LH-48 Lens Hood (Metal) EW-M1220 Black - OM | A metal hood for managing stray light
The OM SYSTEM LH-48 Lens Hood is a metal hood with a black finish, for photographers seeking this specific OM SYSTEM accessory. A lens hood helps limit stray light reaching the lens, which can be useful when light comes from just outside the frame. It’s suited to photographers who have identified the LH-48 as the hood they need and want a metal option rather than a plastic one. The black finish keeps the accessory visually understated alongside a lens. In everyday use, a hood can help with scenes under a bright sky or near a sunlit window, where angled light may lower contrast. It also gives the front of the lens some physical shielding, though it isn’t a substitute for careful handling. The key detail here is the LH-48 model designation: this is a specific hood, not a general-purpose accessory to assume will fit any lens. If that is the designation you need, this is the metal, black-finish version.
Specialist Note
Late-afternoon light spills across a city street, and a hood earns its place when the sun sits just beyond the edge of the frame. The metal construction gives the LH-48 a more substantial feel than a lightweight plastic hood; it’s a sensible match if you prefer that material on your kit. Its black finish is discreet, so it won’t draw attention in close-up work or street scenes. I’d point this out to an OM SYSTEM user who has already identified LH-48 as the right model for their lens: use it when shooting toward bright windows or low sun to help keep stray light off the front element. It has limits, though; a hood can’t remove flare when the light source is in the frame.
