The Panasonic LUMIX G 45-150mm f/4.0-5.6 gives you room to frame people and details from farther away, while keeping a useful range of focal lengths in one interchangeable lens. It’s a telephoto zoom for Micro Four Thirds cameras, with autofocus and a 45-150mm range. That makes it well suited to travel, portraits and events where you may want to move from a wider view to a tighter composition quickly. On a Micro Four Thirds camera, its angle of view runs from about 27° to 8°, narrowing as you zoom in. The maximum aperture changes from f/4 to f/5.6 across the zoom range, so it’s a practical fit when there’s decent light. The black finish keeps the look understated.

Specialist Note

This lens lets you frame someone across a room without having to move into their space. I’d use the long end for candid portraits at a gathering, or to pick out a detail while travelling. At 150mm, the framing is equivalent to 300mm on a Micro Four Thirds camera, so you can fill the frame from quite a distance. The aperture is f/5.6 at that end; in a dim venue, I’d raise ISO or wait for brighter light rather than expect a fast shutter speed at low ISO. For portraits, start around 100mm and keep some distance from your subject for a natural-looking composition. It’s a straightforward way to add reach, with low light its main compromise.
