PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p VND Filter (3 To 7 Stop)
PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p VND Filter (3 To 7 Stop) | Adapt light reduction as conditions change
Bright daylight can leave you choosing between a faster shutter and the motion you want in your video. A neutral-density filter cuts the light reaching the camera, giving you more room to keep your chosen shutter setting. The PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p VND Filter offers variable light reduction from 3 to 7 stops, rather than one fixed strength. It’s for Osmo Pocket 4p users who film outdoors or move between changing light, and want to adjust how much light the filter cuts. In bright conditions, that can help you keep motion looking natural without making the scene darker than necessary. The variable range is especially relevant when light levels shift during a day of filming. Think of it as a way to manage exposure in bright scenes, rather than an effect intended to change the look of colour.
Adjusting to changing light
A fixed-strength filter gives you one level of light reduction. With a variable ND filter, you can adapt the reduction as conditions change, instead of relying on that single level. For example, moving from a shaded area into open daylight may call for a different amount of light control. The aim is to keep exposure where you want it while preserving the motion character you’ve chosen for your footage.
Specialist Note
This PGYTECH filter lets Osmo Pocket 4p users adjust light reduction instead of being tied to one fixed ND strength. I’d consider it for outdoor video where changing daylight makes exposure harder to manage. Use the 3-stop end when you need a lighter reduction, then move towards 7 stops as the scene gets brighter; that gives you a clear range to work with. Because it’s a VND, the amount of reduction is adjustable, which is useful when the light changes while you’re filming. It’s a focused daylight tool, not a substitute for managing exposure in every lighting situation.
