PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Gold Mist - 49mm - McKinnon Series | Control exposure with a warm, softened look

Bright light can leave you choosing between a shutter speed you want and an exposure that’s too bright. The PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 combines variable neutral density with polarization, giving you a 2-to-5-stop light reduction while letting you manage reflections. It’s made for photographers and filmmakers who want exposure control and a distinct Gold Mist look from one filter. That look brings a warm, softened character to the image, so it suits portraits, outdoor scenes and video where a gentle atmospheric finish is welcome. The polarizing function is useful when reflections on water or glass are getting in the way of the subject. The 49mm size is for a lens that takes a 49mm filter. This is a deliberately expressive filter rather than an invisible correction: if you need a strictly neutral rendering, the Gold Mist character may not be what you want.

Specialist Note

“Can I keep my shutter speed under control and add a warmer look with this filter?” Yes—that’s the appeal of this Chroma VND/PL. Its 2-5-stop range gives you room to reduce incoming light in bright conditions, which is handy when filming outdoors and aiming for a consistent motion feel. The Gold Mist finish adds a softened, warm character; I’d use that for a portrait or a sunlit scene where a crisp, neutral look feels too clinical. Its 49mm size matters: your lens needs to accept 49mm filters. I’d choose it when you want that look built into the shot, not when colour neutrality is the priority.
