PolarPro Ventura Neutral Density Filter for GoPro Hero3+
PolarPro Ventura Neutral Density Filter for GoPro Hero3+ | Control bright light in video
For video in bright conditions, a neutral density filter reduces the light reaching the camera, making slower shutter speeds possible and giving motion a more natural-looking blur. The PolarPro Ventura Neutral Density Filter is made for the GoPro Hero3+, so it’s aimed at owners of that camera who want more control over how movement appears in their footage. It can be useful when recording moving water, passing traffic or people in strong daylight, where the camera may otherwise need a very fast shutter to manage the brightness. The key is restraint: an ND filter reduces light, but the title gives no density rating, so there’s no stated number of stops to use as a guide. Think of it as a way to address bright scenes and motion, rather than an all-purpose filter for every recording situation. In low light, reducing the available light is unlikely to help.
Specialist Note
The GoPro Hero3+ fit is the practical detail to keep in mind: this is a filter for that specific camera, not a general-purpose piece of glass for any setup. Its neutral-density function is useful when daylight is pushing your video toward very short shutter times; try it for moving water or street scenes when you want motion to look less sharply frozen. You’ll need to judge the exposure for the scene, since there’s no stated stop value to work from. I’d reserve it for bright conditions and leave it off when the light is already low. That keeps its purpose clear and avoids expecting it to improve every shot.
