Radius 12cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22)
Radius 12cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) | Help keep wind off your recording
A breeze can add distracting noise to an outdoor voice recording, even when the speaker is clear. The Radius 12cm Nimbus Windshield is a microphone accessory for people recording interviews, spoken pieces or other audio outside, where wind may reach the mic. A windshield is made to cover a microphone and help reduce that wind noise; it’s a straightforward addition to a location-recording setup. The product name gives two details to consider when choosing it: a 12 cm measurement and a 19/22 designation. Those markings matter when you’re matching an accessory to your microphone, rather than choosing by appearance alone. Use it when you want a dedicated wind cover on the mic for an outdoor recording, and keep the mic positioned thoughtfully for the speaker. It’s a focused accessory for a specific nuisance, not a replacement for good recording technique.
Specialist Note
Wind hitting the microphone can leave outdoor speech harder to listen to, and this windshield is made to address that particular problem. I’d consider it for location interviews or spoken recordings outside: fit it to a microphone that matches the 19/22 designation, then keep the mic close enough to the speaker to capture their voice clearly. The stated 12 cm measurement gives you a concrete size to compare with the microphone you plan to cover. It’s a practical, specific accessory rather than a cure for every difficult recording condition; strong gusts and poor mic placement can still affect the result. For calmer outdoor voice work, though, it has a clear purpose.
