Radius Red VideoMic NTG Mini Windcover | A simple cover for breezy recording

On a breezy outdoor recording, wind can become an unwelcome part of the sound. The Radius Red VideoMic NTG Mini Windcover is a windcover named for the VideoMic NTG Mini, giving owners of that microphone a dedicated cover rather than an improvised fix. It suits people recording spoken clips outside, from short interviews to pieces to camera, when they want a cover intended for this particular mic. Its red colour also makes it easy to pick out among your small recording accessories. There’s no need to treat it as a microphone upgrade: its role is to cover the mic, not change what the mic is. For indoor recording in still air, you may have little reason to reach for it. But when you’re setting up outdoors and wind is a concern, having a cover identified for the VideoMic NTG Mini makes the accessory’s purpose clear and keeps your setup focused on the job.

Specialist Note

This cover gives the VideoMic NTG Mini a dedicated windcover instead of relying on an improvised wrap. The product name is specific to that microphone, which makes it straightforward to keep the cover with the mic it’s intended for. I also like that it’s red: if you’re packing several small recording accessories, a distinct colour can make this one quicker to spot. It’s suited to VideoMic NTG Mini owners recording an outdoor interview or a piece to camera; fit the cover before you start, then keep your speaking position and mic placement consistent. One sensible limit: a cover can’t make a windy location calm, so choose a more sheltered spot when you can.
