Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 49
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 49 | Control reflections and deepen skies
The Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 49 is a circular polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over reflected light in a scene. It’s especially useful when shooting through a shop window, photographing water, or making a blue sky look more defined. By adjusting the filter’s effect, you can reduce some reflections and bring out colour and contrast that glare would otherwise wash out. The result depends on the surface and the angle of the light, so the effect can vary from one subject to the next. This filter suits photographers who make considered adjustments while framing, rather than expecting the same look in every situation. It can help when reflections distract from the subject, but it won’t remove every reflection, and a polarizing effect isn’t always what a scene needs.
Specialist Note
The Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 49 is best at reducing distracting reflections while you compose. For a shopfront or a view across water, adjust the filter’s orientation as you look through the camera and watch the glare change; stop when the subject reads clearly without making the scene look unnaturally flat. For a stronger sky effect, aim roughly at right angles to the sun and fine-tune from there. The 49 mm size means it’s for a lens with a matching filter size, so it’s worth matching that number before choosing it. Its black colour keeps the filter’s appearance understated on a black lens. I’d recommend it when managing reflections matters more than keeping every surface’s natural sheen.
