Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 58
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 58 | Control reflections in outdoor scenes
A bright sky, a shop window or leaves after rain can all produce reflections that compete with the subject. The Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 58 is a polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over that reflected light in outdoor scenes. A polarizer can reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces, such as glass and water, and can deepen the appearance of a blue sky when the shooting angle is right. The result depends on the light and your position, so it’s a considered tool rather than an automatic effect. Use it when reflections are distracting or when you want the sky and clouds to read more clearly in the frame. Its 58 designation helps identify the size to match when choosing a filter for a lens. For landscapes, travel details and scenes behind glass, it gives you a way to shape the view before taking the picture.
Specialist Note
The 58 mm size is the practical starting point: match that figure to the filter size marked for your lens, and you’ll know whether it’s the right fit. I’d consider this Rodenstock when reflections are part of the problem, not just as something to leave on by default. For a shop window, look through the frame and adjust the polarizer’s angle until the unwanted glare is reduced; for a landscape, judge the sky through the viewfinder as you turn it. Its black colour is a restrained detail on the front of the lens. Keep in mind that the effect varies with your angle to the light, so it won’t remove every reflection in every scene.
