Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 86
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 86 | Reduce reflections and deepen skies
Without a polarising filter, reflections from water, glass and shiny leaves can compete with the subject in your frame. The Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 86 is a circular polarising filter for photographers who want more control over those reflections and the appearance of a bright sky. Turn the filter while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, and the effect changes with its angle: you can reduce glare on a reflective surface or bring more depth to a blue sky. That makes it particularly useful for landscapes, travel scenes and outdoor details where reflected light is distracting. It’s also a considered option when you’d rather shape the light at the lens than rely on editing later. The effect depends on the light and your angle to the subject, so it won’t remove every reflection in every situation.
Specialist Note
Are you considering the Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 86 for reflections on water or foliage? Yes, that’s exactly the kind of job a circular polariser is intended to help with. I’d turn it while watching the reflection, then stop as soon as the surface looks clearer; pushing the effect too far can make a sky look uneven. The “86” is part of this filter’s product designation, so I’d check that number against the filter size your lens accepts before choosing it. Its black colour gives it a discreet look on the front of a lens, though that’s appearance rather than an optical advantage. Do allow for some light loss from polarisation when setting exposure.
