Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro 77mm
Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro 77mm | Control reflections and glare
A bright sky reflected in water or a window can pull attention away from the subject. The Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro is a polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over those reflections and glare, and over the appearance of a blue sky. It’s particularly useful for landscapes, architecture and scenes with reflective surfaces, where unwanted shine can hide detail or soften colour. A polarizer’s effect depends on the angle of the light, so you can adjust your position and check the view as you work. That makes it a considered tool rather than an automatic fix: some reflections may be part of the scene, and removing them isn’t always the aim. The 77mm version is the one to consider when your lens takes a 77mm filter. It gives you a straightforward way to manage reflected light in the kinds of scenes where that light can compete with your subject.
Specialist Note
Reflections covering the detail you want to photograph are often the reason to reach for this filter. The 77mm size gives you a clear matching point: pair it with a lens that has a 77mm filter thread. As a polarizing filter, it’s suited to scenes such as a shopfront behind glass or a landscape with a bright sky; adjust your camera’s angle to the light and watch how the reflections and sky change in the view. I’d use it when that change helps the subject read more clearly, not as a default for every frame. The Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro name identifies this particular model, while the result still depends on the light and your chosen angle.
