Rollei Dummy Battery LP-E17 Canon w/ USB-C

Rollei Dummy Battery LP-E17 Canon w/ USB-C | Power your setup without swapping batteries

When a camera stays in one place, stopping to swap batteries can break the flow of a recording or other extended session. The Rollei Dummy Battery LP-E17 Canon w/ USB-C is a dummy battery for the Canon LP-E17 format, with USB-C named as its power connection. It suits Canon users who need this battery format and want a dummy-battery setup instead of relying on a charged battery in the camera. Its most relevant use is a fixed setup where uninterrupted access to power matters more than carrying a spare battery. That makes it worth considering for a camera that’s being used in a consistent position, rather than for everyday shooting where changing batteries is easy. The product’s name tells you the key points: it’s a dummy battery, it’s for LP-E17, and it uses USB-C. There’s no claim here about runtime or charging speed, so the appeal is straightforward: a different way to arrange power for a compatible setup.

When a dummy battery makes sense

A dummy battery takes the place of a regular battery in the camera, so this is a power accessory rather than an additional battery to charge and rotate. That distinction matters. If you’re planning a session where the camera will remain in position, a dummy-battery arrangement can help avoid interruptions for battery changes. You’ll still need a suitable source of power for the USB-C connection; the product name alone doesn’t tell us which source or setup to use. Keep your expectations practical: this accessory is about the way the camera is powered, not about adding battery capacity or improving image quality. For a mobile outing, a conventional spare battery may be simpler to carry. For a fixed working setup, this Rollei option is relevant when LP-E17 is the required battery format and USB-C suits the power arrangement you intend to use.
