Rycote Baseball Black (19/20mm)
Rycote Baseball Black (19/20mm) | A discreet microphone windscreen
Without a microphone windscreen, moving air can interfere with a recording, particularly outdoors. The Rycote Baseball Black is a compact microphone accessory for reducing that problem on microphones in the 19/20mm size range. It’s suited to audio recordists who want a simple, close-fitting windscreen rather than a larger setup, and the black finish keeps the accessory visually unobtrusive on a dark microphone. For location dialogue, interviews or other spoken-word recording, it’s a practical option when wind is the concern and your microphone matches the stated size. The important thing is the fit: choose it for a microphone in the 19/20mm range, not just because it’s a Rycote product. It’s a focused accessory with a clear job, rather than a general cover for every microphone or recording situation.
Specialist Note
The 19/20mm sizing makes this a specific-fit accessory, so it isn’t one to choose by microphone brand alone. For a matching microphone, that close size range gives you a straightforward way to add wind protection without moving to a larger windscreen. I’d consider it for outdoor dialogue or an interview where air movement might spoil otherwise clear speech; match the microphone’s diameter to the stated size, then use the windscreen on the mic while recording. The black finish is a sensible detail for visible setups, since it keeps the accessory low-key. It’s a focused solution, not a substitute for a larger wind system in demanding conditions.
