Rycote Classic Adaptor For pcs-Boom Connector

Rycote Classic Adaptor for PCS-Boom Connector: Switch microphone mounts quickly

The Rycote Classic Adaptor for PCS-Boom Connector is part of a boom-pole connection system that uses a quick-release click fitting, rather than relying on a threaded change each time you switch microphone mounts. The PCS-Boom Connector accepts a 3/8-inch female thread, so it can join a compatible microphone holder to a boom pole setup. It’s aimed at sound recordists who need to change microphones during a session and want the connection to stay secure between takes. For dialogue recording, the quick-release fitting makes it straightforward to swap from one prepared microphone setup to another. It’s also useful when a production uses accessories with a standard 3/8-inch thread: the connector is specified to work with accessories from any brand that use that thread. Rycote’s design keeps the mount firmly attached while limiting unwanted sound vibration reaching the recording. That matters when a microphone is held on a boom close to speech or other quiet sounds. The system is intended for professional use, but its simple click connection is easy to understand at the pole. This product is specifically the Classic Adaptor for the PCS-Boom Connector, so its role is to work within that Rycote connection system.

Why it is useful

• Quick-release click fitting: The PCS-Boom Connector attaches to and comes away from the boom pole with a click. That makes a microphone change a short operation rather than a full threaded swap.
• One-hand connection: The connector can be operated with one hand. That’s useful when the other hand is keeping the boom pole steady during a change between prepared microphone setups.
• Secure mount: Rycote’s design holds the mount firmly in place. A stable connection is important when the boom is being repositioned during a take.
• Designed to limit sound vibration: The connection is intended to keep unwanted vibration from interfering with the recording. That’s particularly relevant for close dialogue and other quiet on-set audio.
• 3/8-inch female thread compatibility: The PCS-Boom Connector fits a 3/8-inch female thread. This gives the system a defined connection point for microphone holders and other accessories that use this thread.
• Works across accessory brands: The connector is specified for accessories from any brand when they use a 3/8-inch thread. You can base the fit on that thread specification, rather than on the accessory’s brand name.
