Rycote M58/SM58/MCE82 Mini Windjammer
Rycote M58/SM58/MCE82 Mini Windjammer | A compact option for managing wind noise
The Rycote M58/SM58/MCE82 Mini Windjammer is a small windjammer named for the M58, SM58 and MCE82 microphones. It’s intended for people recording speech or other sound who want to address wind noise at the microphone, particularly when working where air movement is a concern. Rather than changing how you record, it gives you a dedicated windjammer for the microphone models in its name. That makes it a straightforward accessory to consider when wind is getting in the way of a recording. Use it for location interviews, spoken-word recordings or other situations where a breeze may reach the microphone. Its compact format is useful when you want a wind accessory that stays close to the microphone setup. The product is black, so it keeps to a simple, unobtrusive look alongside your recording gear. Choose it by the microphone designation it’s made for, and you’ll know whether it belongs in your setup.
Specialist Note
In use, this is a small, direct addition to the microphone setup: put the windjammer on the M58, SM58 or MCE82 it’s named for, then get on with recording while paying less attention to moving air. The Mini size keeps the accessory focused on the microphone rather than turning into a larger piece of kit to manage. For a spoken interview outdoors, it’s the kind of wind protection I’d consider before rolling; for a voice recording in a breezy space, it’s a simple way to address wind at the mic. One point to keep in mind: a windjammer is for wind, not room echo or handling noise, so it won’t solve those other recording issues.
