Rycote pcs-Artic Arm
Rycote pcs-Artic Arm | A dedicated arm for microphone setups
Without an arm in the setup, microphone placement is usually handled by whatever stand or support is already there. The Rycote pcs-Artic Arm is a microphone accessory for people who want a dedicated arm in that part of their setup. Its name gives two useful clues: Rycote is the maker, and this is an arm rather than a microphone or an audio-processing device. That makes it relevant to a recording desk, voice-over position or another arranged microphone space where placement is part of the working routine. The benefit is practical: an arm is intended to give you a defined place to position equipment around your recording position. For a small home recording setup or a working audio station, it’s worth considering when an arm is the kind of support you want.
Specialist Note
At a one-microphone desk, I’d first work out where you want the microphone to sit during your recording routine. The Rycote pcs-Artic Arm is a physical arm accessory, so its role is about positioning, not changing the sound. For voice-over, or a fixed podcast position, plan the desk arrangement around the microphone’s intended spot and consider this arm as part of that setup. The Rycote name identifies the maker; “Arm” is the useful cue to its purpose. I’d consider it for a settled recording position where a dedicated arm suits the way you work, rather than as an audio device in its own right.
