Rycote Stereo Cyclone MS Kit 6
Rycote Stereo Cyclone MS Kit 6 | A dedicated kit for MS stereo recording
Without an accessory made for the recording approach, it can be difficult to choose a setup with the right purpose in mind. The Rycote Stereo Cyclone MS Kit 6 is a microphone accessory named for stereo MS work. It’s aimed at sound recordists who use a Mid-Side arrangement and want a Rycote kit specified for that application, rather than a general microphone accessory chosen by guesswork. MS recording is useful when you want to retain separate Mid and Side signals and make decisions about stereo width in the mix. That makes the kit relevant to location sound, interviews and ambient recordings where stereo perspective matters. The product name identifies the system and its kit designation, but doesn’t give enough detail to establish microphone fit or setup particulars. For those, the exact microphone and recording arrangement matter. If your work is built around MS stereo, this is a specifically named Rycote option to consider; it’s not a general-purpose recommendation for every recording setup.
Specialist Note
“Is the Stereo Cyclone MS Kit 6 intended for Mid-Side recording?” Yes—that’s what the MS in its name points to, and the Stereo designation makes its intended recording context clear. I’d consider it if you’re recording interviews or ambience with an MS arrangement and want an accessory identified for that setup, rather than choosing something on appearance alone. The useful distinction is between stereo as a broad goal and MS as a particular way of capturing it: with MS, you keep the Mid and Side signals available to shape the stereo width later. Rycote and Cyclone identify the product line, while Kit 6 is the specific designation to use when asking about this item. I’d match it to your actual microphone arrangement before settling on it; the name alone doesn’t establish a particular microphone fit.
