Rycote Windjammer WJ AG/300 Black Version
Rycote Windjammer WJ AG/300 Black Version | A practical barrier against wind noise
A breeze across an outdoor interview can quickly become distracting in a recording. The Rycote Windjammer WJ AG/300 is a microphone accessory intended to help limit that problem: a windjammer sits over a microphone and helps reduce the sound of moving air reaching it. It’s relevant for location sound, interviews and other recordings made where you can’t control the weather. The name identifies this as Rycote’s WJ AG/300 version, in black. That exact designation matters when you’re choosing a wind cover for a particular microphone setup; the product name alone doesn’t establish fit for every microphone. Use it where wind is the concern, rather than expecting it to fix room echo or sounds caused by handling the microphone. For anyone recording outdoors, it’s a straightforward piece of kit to consider as part of the microphone setup.
Specialist Note
The black finish keeps the Windjammer visually subdued on a dark microphone setup, which can be a practical detail for interviews where you don’t want the cover to draw attention. Its name tells you the job: it’s a wind cover, so I’d consider it for outdoor speech or location recording when moving air is getting into the microphone. The WJ AG/300 designation is useful when matching the product name against the microphone accessory you need; I wouldn’t treat the code by itself as proof of fit. One point to keep in mind: a windjammer addresses wind, not room reflections or handling noise.
