Saramonic SR-C2002
Saramonic SR-C2002 | Connect TRRS audio gear to Lightning devices
The 6cm cable is the defining choice of the Saramonic SR-C2002: a compact 3.5mm TRRS-to-Lightning adapter for connecting audio equipment to an iPhone or iPad with a Lightning port. It’s made for people recording with microphones, wireless microphone receivers or mixers who need their audio to reach an iOS device directly. That makes it useful for capturing microphone or mixer audio on an iPhone or iPad, rather than relying on the device’s built-in microphone. The same adapter also serves as a headphone connection, so you can use it to connect a 3.5mm headset or headphones to a Lightning device. Its short cable keeps the connection in a small, simple format, while the two connector types make its role clear: TRRS audio equipment at one end, Lightning at the other. For mobile audio recording and headphone listening, it’s a focused adapter rather than a general-purpose cable.
Connections and uses
- Lightning connection: The device end connects to an iPhone or iPad with a Lightning port. That provides a direct route for audio equipment to connect to the mobile device.
- TRRS audio input: The audio end supports 3.5mm TRRS equipment, including microphones, wireless microphone receivers and mixers. You can connect these sources for recording audio on the iPhone or iPad.
- Direct mobile recording: Use the adapter to route audio from connected equipment into an iPhone or iPad. It’s a straightforward option for recording with an external audio source instead of the device’s built-in mic.
- Headphone connection: The adapter can also function as a 3.5mm headphone port. That gives Lightning-equipped iPhones and iPads a way to connect headphones with this plug type.
- 6cm cable: The short cable joins the two connectors without adding a long length of cable to your kit. Its compact format is well suited to a small mobile recording setup.
Specialist Note
Audio takes a direct route from your external gear to the phone, so the SR-C2002 keeps a mobile recording connection simple. I’d point it out to anyone recording on an iPhone or iPad with a microphone, wireless receiver or mixer that uses a TRRS connection: the adapter links that source to the device’s Lightning port. Its 6cm cable is short, which keeps the adapter itself compact, though it doesn’t add reach between your audio equipment and phone. It also works as a headphone connection, making it handy when the same Lightning device is used for recording and listening. Keep in mind that this is a specific connector adapter, not a longer extension cable.
