Schneider CF Diopter Full +3 138mm Drop
Schneider CF Diopter Full +3 138mm Drop | Bring closer subjects into focus
You’re framing a small subject, but your lens won’t focus close enough to fill the frame. The Schneider CF Diopter Full +3 138mm Drop is a close-up diopter: its +3 strength helps bring the focus range nearer, giving you more room to work with subjects close to the camera. It suits photographers and filmmakers who need extra close-focus capability for details, objects or other nearby subjects. The 138mm drop format is the other key part of its name, pointing to a large drop-in filter setup rather than a small screw-on filter. This is a focused tool for extending close-up work, not a general-purpose effect filter. The result you get depends on the lens and setup you use it with, so it’s best considered when you already know you need a +3 diopter in a 138mm drop format.
Specialist Note
The broad 138mm drop format changes how this diopter fits into a setup: it’s intended for a holder arranged for that size, not a small filter that screws onto a lens. Its +3 strength is the working detail I’d focus on; it brings the focus range closer, which can help frame fine surface detail or a small product without moving the camera right up to it. For a close-up, fit the diopter in the compatible drop-in holder and focus the lens within its closer range; the exact framing and focus distance will depend on your lens. It’s a specific solution, so I’d choose it when +3 is the strength you need, rather than expecting it to cover every close-focus situation.
