Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 2.4 6.6x6.6
Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 2.4 6.6x6.6 | Control light for longer exposures
Moving water can take on a smooth, flowing look, while a bright scene stays within reach of a slower shutter speed. The Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 2.4 6.6x6.6 is a neutral-density filter: it reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you more control over exposure in bright conditions. That makes it relevant to landscape photographers shaping the appearance of rivers, surf or clouds, and to photographers who want to use a wider aperture outdoors without letting in too much light. The key is to choose the shutter speed for the motion you want, then balance the exposure with your other settings. This filter is best suited to a deliberate workflow where you want to manage incoming light rather than rely on camera settings alone. Its name gives the 6.6x6.6 format and the 2.4 designation, without stating a stop value.
Specialist Note
The Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 2.4 6.6x6.6 is made for reducing light when you want a longer exposure in bright surroundings. The square 6.6x6.6 format is a practical detail to plan around: use a holder designed for that size, so the filter can sit in front of your lens as intended. For a river or waterfall, let the water’s movement guide your shutter-speed choice; a slower exposure gives it a softer, more continuous appearance. The 2.4 is part of this filter’s designation, so I wouldn’t treat it as a shutter-speed instruction. It suits photographers who are comfortable building a filter into their setup, rather than looking for a quick screw-on solution.
