Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 2mm 4x5.65
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 2mm 4x5.65 | Add blue streaks to point-light sources
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 2mm 4x5.65 is a blue streak-effect filter in a 2mm-thick, 4x5.65 format. It’s made for filmmakers and cinematographers who want a visible light effect created in-camera, rather than added later in post-production. Use it when bright point lights are part of the composition: the filter gives those sources a blue streak character that can become a deliberate graphic element in a shot. That makes it particularly suited to scenes with practical lights, signs or other distinct points of light. It’s a specialised creative filter, not a general colour correction filter, so its strongest use is when you can compose around the effect. The 4x5.65 format identifies the filter size; check that your filter holder accepts that format before planning a setup. If the frame has no clear point-light sources, there may be little for the streak effect to emphasise.
Specialist Note
With a bright point light in frame, the effect is immediate: that source becomes a blue streak, so you can build the look into the shot instead of relying on a later effect. I’d use it for a night street scene or a controlled shot with a small light source against a darker background; keeping the source distinct in the composition helps the streak read clearly. The 2mm thickness is useful when you’re planning how the filter sits in your setup, while the 4x5.65 format gives you a clear size to match to your holder. It’s a focused effect, so it earns its place when the scene has lights to work with.
